Our Services

Webster Technique

Webster Technique was developed by Dr. Larry Webster over 30 years ago as a way to improve birth outcomes in women. The Webster technique involves an analysis of the position of the sacrum, adjustment of the sacrum and release of the related soft tissues around the sacrum and womb. Dr. Sarah uses Webster technique as a total release of the hips in all populations of people both pregnant and not pregnant because it is so effective in restoring the neurobiomechanics of the pelvis. By correcting the neurological potential of the pelvis through the adjustment, a myriad of health improvements can occur. Since the adjustment focuses on stimulating those nerves that exit through the sacrum, some of the health effects include improved fertility outcomes, improved nerve function to the baby and muscle tone of the womb, releasing the muscles around the womb so baby can have room to position themselves appropriately for birth, and improved birth outcomes including decreased labor time, not to mention improved gut functioning and decreased low back pain. Our goals in our clinic are always designed to bring balance back to the body, so you leave here functioning optimally to live your best life.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic care is an excellent source of complementary healthcare for overall wellness. It is a form of noninvasive and effective options for improving the neuroimmune system. Chiropractic aims to decrease interference to the nervous system and increase the body's ability to heal itself naturally. Adults can experience a large variety of traumas throughout their lives including birth traumas, nerve entrapments, mild to severe traumas throughout childhood, sports injuries and workplace traumas that can lead to a cumulative buildup of scar tissue in various parts of the body. When enough scar tissue has built up in a certain part of the body, the joint can become immobilized. Chiropractic brings mobilization and improved neurological output to areas of the body that need attention and healing. Dr. Sarah and Shane address all soft tissue and nerve traumas that have occurred to prevent problems from progressing to long term conditions while also boosting the neuroimmune system. Chiropractic care can address many conditions such as low back, thoracic and neck dysfunction, ankle, knee, hip, wrist, elbow and shoulder dysfunction, scoliosis, herniated discs, migraine headaches, sports and work injuries, sciatica, nerve entrapments, sleep disturbances, torticolis, digestive problems, allergies, seizures and more. The premise behind chiropractic philosophy is to encourage the body to function optimally by adding stimulus to the nervous system and allowing the body to heal itself. In most cases, chiropractic care can resolve most of the signs and symptoms that are contributing to the development of the condition by focusing on the root cause instead of simply masking signs and symptoms. Our goals in our clinic are always designed to bring balance back to the body, so you leave here functioning optimally to live your best life.

Chiropractic for Children

Massage is the manipulation of body tissues such as skin, fascia, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and organs. These manipulations are done in a mindful and artful manner by a massage professional. The intent of these manipulations is to initiate a therapeutic response in the recipient. The healing traditions of massage currently can be traced back as far as 4,000 years. Over the years many styles have been created, all over the world. Many of these are slightly different, but share common philosophical traits, and therapeutic goals. The information age has given massage professionals the opportunity to bridge these gaps, so that the healing art and science of massage therapy is stronger than ever before. We now have scientific data showing that massage is more effective at treating pain then conventional medical treatments. This data also shows massage increases circulation, lymphatic drainage, and stimulates white blood cell production. Massage has been shown to be beneficial in helping its recipients build a better mental connection with their bodies. Massage affects our bodies so positively it helps with any physical or mental health condition that is caused by high stress levels or poor health. Dr. Sarah has practiced massage since 2003, and I have been in practice since 1996, Massage is a big part of what we do at Austin Community Wellness. Our patients that have incorporated massage therapy with their chiropractic care have faster recovery times and are generally our most successful cases. Our healing strategy always includes bringing balance back to the body so that you leave hear functioning optimally in order to live you best life.

Gua Sha/Graston Technique

Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese technique that means scraping, and it is used primarily on the "yang areas" of the body such as the back, neck, shoulders, buttocks and limbs. This type of scraping brings heat to the areas of focus, and allows the body to express that release and eliminate toxins. There are also different types of bruising that can occur with this that indicates what's happening in the body. Graston technique was developed by David Graston to break up fibrosis and scar tissue buildup in specific areas of the body. The tools used for Graston are stainless steel, and that technique creates inflammation around damaged tissues and allows the body to re-heal the area another time. The technique itself can cause micro trauma to adhesions and scar tissue, but it allows the body o reprocess the original problem area or injury that occurred. At Austin Community Wellness, Dr. Sarah and Shane use a combination of Gua Sha and Graston with stainless steel tools as they have been trained in both techniques. Gua Sha and Graston are not recommended for those who prefer or can't handle deeper techniques, but they are incredibly effective for chronic and non responsive conditions. Gua Sha and Graston have had success in such conditions as frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, sciatica, locked knees, plantar fasciitis and other nerve entrapment syndromes. Our goals in our clinic are always designed to bring balance back to the body, so you leave here functioning optimally to live your best life.

CranioSacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch, generally no greater than 5 grams the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease. It's also effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.

Chiropractic care for infants, toddlers and children is an excellent source of complementary healthcare for overall wellness. It is a form of noninvasive, gentle & effective options for improving the neuroimmune system. Chiropractic aims to decrease interference to the nervous system & increase the body's ability to heal itself naturally. Newborns can experience a large variety of birth traumas from broken bones to nerve entrapments from modern birthing practices, and toddlers take a series of tumbles that can range from mild to severe. Dr. Sarah & Shane have adjusted thier 3 children since birth to address all soft tissue & nerve traumas that have occurred to prevent problems from progressing to long term conditions, while also boosting the neuroimmune system. Chiropractic care can address many conditions such as colic, chronic ear infections, bed wetting, sleep disturbances, behavioral disorders, ADHD, torticolis, digestive problems, allergies, seizures, ASD & more. The premise behind chiropractic philosophy is to encourage the body to function optimally by adding stimulus to the nervous system, and allowing the body to heal itself. In most cases, chiropractic care can resolve most of the signs & symptoms that are contributing to the development of the condition by focusing on the root cause instead of simply masking signs & symptoms. Our goals in our clinic are always designed to bring balance back to the body, so you leave here functioning optimally to live your best life.
