Our Services

Webster Technique

Webster Technique was developed by Dr. Larry Webster over 30 years ago as a way to improve birth outcomes in women. The Webster technique involves an analysis of the position of the sacrum, adjustment of the sacrum and release of the related soft tissues around the sacrum and womb. Dr. Sarah uses Webster technique as a total release of the hips in all populations of people both pregnant and not pregnant because it is so effective in restoring the neurobiomechanics of the pelvis. By correcting the neurological potential of the pelvis through the adjustment, a myriad of health improvements can occur. Since the adjustment focuses on stimulating those nerves that exit through the sacrum, some of the health effects include improved fertility outcomes, improved nerve function to the baby and muscle tone of the womb, releasing the muscles around the womb so baby can have room to position themselves appropriately for birth, and improved birth outcomes including decreased labor time, not to mention improved gut functioning and decreased low back pain. Our goals in our clinic are always designed to bring balance back to the body, so you leave here functioning optimally to live your best life.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic care is manual manipulation of the spinal column, discs, related nerves and bone geometry without the use of drugs or surgery. It involves the art and science of adjusting misaligned joints of the body, especially of the spine, which reduces spinal nerve stress and therefore promotes health throughout the body.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is manual manipulation of soft tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person's health and well-being. There are dozens of types of massage therapy methods (also called modalities).

Gua Sha/Graston Technique

Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese technique that means scraping, and it is used primarily on the "yang areas" of the body such as the back, neck, shoulders, buttocks and limbs. This type of scraping brings heat to the areas of focus, and allows the body to express that release and eliminate toxins. There are also different types of bruising that can occur with this that indicates what's happening in the body. Graston technique was developed by David Graston to break up fibrosis and scar tissue buildup in specific areas of the body. The tools used for Graston are stainless steel, and that technique creates inflammation around damaged tissues and allows the body to re-heal the area another time. The technique itself can cause micro trauma to adhesions and scar tissue, but it allows the body o reprocess the original problem area or injury that occurred. At Austin Community Wellness, Dr. Sarah and Shane use a combination of Gua Sha and Graston with stainless steel tools as they have been trained in both techniques. Gua Sha and Graston are not recommended for those who prefer or can't handle deeper techniques, but they are incredibly effective for chronic and non responsive conditions. Gua Sha and Graston have had success in such conditions as frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, sciatica, locked knees, plantar fasciitis and other nerve entrapment syndromes. Our goals in our clinic are always designed to bring balance back to the body, so you leave here functioning optimally to live your best life.

CranioSacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch, generally no greater than 5 grams the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease. It's also effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.
